How to
select photographs to be used for a portrait.
The most efficient way to have a portrait made is
to give me several photographs of the subject. Snapshots usually work the
best. The most important thing to look for in photos is that the
facial features (eye color, etc.) need to be clear. If the photo is taken from far
away and there is not much detail or color on the face, it will not make a good
painting. The closer and clearer it is, the better. In addition, shadows on the face
often make the painting more interesting.
Please send as many photos of the subject as possible. Even if some photos are not used, they help me get to know the subject better.
Sometimes a face from one photo can be used while the body or clothes from another photo are used. However, the body position, angles, and lighting need to be similar in order to look natural.
* Important: Any photo from a professional photographer that is copyrighted cannot be used for a painting without written consent from the photographer.
