Julie White McCartney was born in Jackson,
Mississippi and grew up in Clinton, Mississippi. At preschool age, Julie began
drawing household items and sculpting with Play-Dough. She actually began her

by taking art lessons in the 2nd grade. Julie continued to study art
through elementary school, Clinton Junior High School, and Clinton High School.
She earned a B.A. degree in art from Mississippi College in 1995. Since then,
Julie has been active as an artist in central Mississippi and has sold her work
through gallery shows, benefit auctions, and directly to private collectors.
Julie specializes in portrait painting but also enjoys painting other subject
matter such as still lifes and landscapes. Through painting, she studies color
and how light effects the color of an object. She is studying the techniques of
master painter and teacher Henry Hensche, who developed a method to teach
students to see the vibrant color that exists in nature and in one=s
subject matter. Mr. Henshe=s
techniques are now taught by his students, including Camille Przewodek and Sammy
Britt, who have greatly influenced Julie and her work. To use a phrase of Mr.
Hensche=s,
she is striving to present

in her work. Julie now resides in Madison with her husband Steve and sons
Fisher, Ethan, and Matthew.
